General advice warning

This website provides general information only. It has been prepared without taking into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before acting on any information on this site, you should consider whether it is appropriate for your circumstances and, if necessary, seek advice from a financial adviser licensed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

No financial product advice

Everything on this website — guides, explainers, industry analysis, worked examples and any correspondence with our editor — is general educational information about how stock markets and listed companies work. It is not financial product advice, personal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any financial product.

GreenValley does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence, is not an authorised representative of any licensee, and is not a broker, dealer, fund manager or custodian. No content on this site creates an adviser–client relationship, and no content is tailored to any individual reader.

The information does not consider you

Our guides are written for a general audience. They do not and cannot take into account your financial objectives, your financial situation, your tax position, your existing investments, your time horizon, or how much loss you can tolerate. Two readers can follow identical information and reasonably reach opposite conclusions about what is right for them. That judgment is yours, and it is a judgment we deliberately do not make for you.

Investing involves risk of loss

Investing in shares and other financial products carries risk. Prices can fall as well as rise, and you may receive back less than you invested — potentially the entire amount. Some companies fail. Dividends are not guaranteed and can be reduced or suspended. Past performance of any security, issuer, market or strategy is not a reliable indicator of future performance, and no one can reliably predict future prices.

Where a guide uses a historical example, a hypothetical illustration, or a worked calculation, it exists to explain a concept. It is not a forecast, a projection, or an indication of what will happen in the future.

Dated information

Market rules, reporting standards, tax treatment and company circumstances change over time. Statements in our guides describe the position at the publication and review dates shown on the page. A guide that was accurate when written may no longer describe the current position. Where we become aware of a material change we update the page and its review date, or withdraw it; where an error is confirmed we correct it on the page with a dated note.

Figures taken from a company's documents reflect that company's reporting for the period covered by those documents. They say nothing about later periods.

Accuracy and completeness

We take care to trace every figure we publish to a source document, and we show our workings so you can check them. Even so, we do not warrant that this site is complete or free from error, and we do not warrant that any third-party document we reference is accurate. If you are relying on a specific figure for a decision, verify it against the original document first — the same standard we apply to ourselves.

Third-party content and links

We link to external sources such as company reports, exchange announcements and regulatory registers so that readers can verify claims independently. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. A link is not an endorsement, and no external party is responsible for anything published here.

No guarantee of outcomes

We make no representation that reading our guides, or following any method described in them, will improve your investment results, reduce your losses, or achieve any financial objective. Nothing on this site is a promise of any outcome, and no fee we charge is contingent on one.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for your own investment decisions. Before acting on anything that affects your finances, consider obtaining advice from a professional licensed to advise on your circumstances. You can check whether a person or firm holds an Australian Financial Services Licence on the free ASIC registers. If you are struggling with debt or financial hardship, free and confidential support is available from the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007.
